I have recently been very into making turtle-managed paper database. Therefore I tend to compile some of my favorite databases into books (eg: players on my server, what they like, etc).
However, I could not find a way to bind more than seven pages together (9-7), therefore I would like to suggest adding a way to make longer books.
Furthermore, I have recently learned first hand why databases are now computer-based. Could it be possible to recycle paper and use it as a fuel source?

Making books bigger? I don't really like, but making pages burnable, comparable to one sapling's worth of fuel? I think that could work.

I believe you can bind bound pages with more string, as long as you haven't formed the bound pages into a book.

Where did you find that information? I looked all over the wiki, but it's nearly like a black hole when the subject is printing.

Mostly just vague memories from around the time it came out. I'll see about confirming this one way or the other at some point and make sure the wiki gets updated.

Well It sounds good to use it as fuel but about the books…
I gotta agree with Cranium about that.

Or even less fuel. Considering one piece of paper is much smaller than a sapling. It could be that one piece of printed paper is equal to one fuel unit.

Providing it is not yet a book, you can craft upto 16 pages into a printout.

Thanks for telling me Cloudy, now I can add a preface to my book =D. I guess individual paper aren't worth burning, but how about combining them to burn them?

You really want to hold book burning rallies, do you. I hope you are fully aware of what that means :P/>

Book burning + furnaces, no less. Perhaps it is best we not go there.

Well, you do have to dispose of the old ones when you print a new edition…
EDIT: And I do that with my school notes, every two years anyway.

We should head off to the Library of Alexandria and torch every first edition by Socrates, after all, they've all been re-printed.

Don't be stupid, we don't burn originals!

Yes, but we're talking about mass printed books, not handwrittent manuscript.
EDIT: And I don't feel the need to re-use paper too much in a game… except as fuel.

Still, lets not go down that road, or the topic might be locked.

But it's a perfectly valid topic! Instead of just throwing out outdated books, I'm proposing to recycle them by burning in a furnace.

You might not know what it means and I hope the thread doesn't get locked just because of that, as it was a (perhaps bad) joke from me. While you might be thinking of it for naively innocent purposes, on a large scale allowing it might send the wrong message, and like it's been said, we don't want to go down that particular road.

Craft by itself or water bucket to get corresponding quantity of paper dust.
Use it to create new paper or as a fertilizer.

Hey, how about instead of burning them all, you could just craft it with a bonemeal to get regular paper again?

That can work too. But water is cheaper ;)/>
Generally is you need to dispose a lot of used paper, you would need a lot of clean peper (to use and dispose). :D/>
