This is a bit of a demonstration of the capabilities of this engine, inspired by a few other isometric racers like Night Driver and Enduro for the 2600, or some of the old Test Drive games, if you're old enough to remember any of them.
This screenshot is a little outdated, the striped lines (which were a standard for most racers of the time) were added to help produce a sensation of motion, however this was adaquetely done by road lines so it has been removed. It's not got much game play yet but here are the basics:
Up/Down: Acceleration and brakes
Left/Right: Turn car
Q: Quit
The game itself is somewhat interesting but I find the project specs themselves more interesting. The artwork took me about an hour to mock up, and the source code took about 2 hours. It has 12 image files total (one of them since made redundant), and the source code is about 120 lines long, most of that either managing game logic or calling commands from gameutils. Compressed, it's about 8kb all up.
I don't know what I'll do with this. If it's considered "interesting" here on the forums I'll add a few more elements, like scaling traffic, a day/night cycle (which will allow me to demonstrate the "repaint" feature), and a more definite goal. But for the moment, it's just a sort demo.
Oh, you can download it from here: http://www.mediafire...nxie0b0clrg0cy4 . If clicking the link doesn't work, try pasting it into the URL field of your web browser.
