Any tips for adding this to my server?
FuzzyPurp #30
Posted 27 February 2012 - 12:56 AM
Yea if your the admin just add the files server side. ALL CC files are server side. Or get an admin to add it for you, if he doesnt want it to be on all pc's then get the floppy version and have him put it on one of your disks that you own. Then you could sell Redworks on your server :)/>/>

If you've even looked at mine you would see that mine is a reasonable bit different to yours,
Yours:
After user choosing disk directory to install to just extract/installs it to that folder.
Mine:
[0] User enters world name
[1] User clicks download/install
[2] Downloads redworks-floppy
[3] Extracts & Copies redworks floppy to a new floppy disk
[3a] Labels the brand new floppy
[4] Pulls the floppies item id from the CC config file
[5] Puts a brand new floppy
[5] Puts a brand new floppy in the players inventory.

So stop crying like a little baby just because someone has made a program that may do what yours does better.

Hey, maybe that error is because you don't have the proper APIs in it. I'm going to add an API checker into the next version of MineDwarf. Sorry about that, try to manually install the RedWorks add-on. That places the APIs in there.

but the thing is it should be standard with an installer, you should have it there as one of the first features also batch installer time(i could make an installer in a rubbish scripting language almost better than alot of

Hey guys, awesome mod you have here.

I new to lua myself so this has made things quite easy sofar. I have a computer controlling a little power station using the bundleworks program. However… since i use this one computer just for this i was wondering if there is a way to link the login screen directly to the bundleworks.

I've had a look at the programs myself and I'm in the process of making the bundleworks more applicable to my power station, so instead of asking for colours it will kinda list the things i need to control in my station. But i have no idea how to have the logic screen execute the bundleworks, if indeed it can be done.

Here's hoping it's nice and easy ^^

Test it, i think it wont bypass the autorun startup - if so then in the startup file code shell.run("startup") shell.run("mem/programs/redworks/bundleworks")

I can just imagine in a year or so. People will have figured out a way to watch videos on here. After that, a program compatible with keepvid.com to download youtube videos. Then I can watch the yogscast in minecraft. :P/>/>

hehe, thats just the API :)/>/>

But this needs an update(still works) just that its been awhile since any new content has been added. And RWTK got put off. Taking user submitted programs(if they're good/essential). Feel free to request for your program(s) and API's to be added into Redworks.

How about a program to pulse or toggle wires in bundled cable for a selection system. Or an easy to set up selection system for various projects.

Are you sure? Pretty sure it gets sent to the autorun folder
Also the documentation for the API is lacking - i'll eventually get around to it. :P/>/>

great work on this one. there are many OS'es out there today, but when it comes to structure and code, i prefer this one over all the others i have seen so far.

i am glad to find out, you still post here. i assume, that means, this nice os extension is developed further. not that i miss much, but the last release has been a while.

I do not know if it was, but here little fix for tCopy function in redworks API
Spoiler

function tCopy (tOrig, tTwin)
if not tTwin then tTwin = { } end
local tStack = {{tOrig, tTwin}}
local function copy (tTable, tTarget)
if not getmetatable(tTarget) then setmetatable(tTarget, getmetatable(tTable)) end
for k, v in pairs(tTable) do
if type(v)~='table' then
tTarget[k] = v
else
tTarget[k] = { }
table.insert(tStack, {tTable[k], tTarget[k]})
end
end
end
while #tStack>0 do
copy(tStack[1][1], tStack[1][2])
table.remove(tStack, 1)
end
return tTwin
end
Now it also copies the tables inside tables (instead of referring to them)

EDIT: nope, it's not working, ignore it for now…

EDIT2: Fixed! But it may impact performance… or not. Need testing.

EDIT3: Also added optional 2nd arg for great justice :(/>/>

Yes its possible, ask the admin to add it to a floppy disk for you, or he can add the Master version and have it on all computers.
And the near future i'll try to make it available thru ftp and/or a new feature coming in the fs api for CC, but the server still will need to have http enabled in CC's config options

Get the floppy version, make a disc ingame, put it in a drive to give it an id, extract the floppy zip to *minecraft dir*/saves/*savename*/computer/disk/*highest disk number (most recently crafted)*, Win

Can I get some details on the Game API? That sounds interesting.
Also, I have an idea: MovieAPI. Make ASCII movies moar easily, moar faster!< :D/>>
It isn't hard to code, and even better a 'movie' file format could be used where every frame of the movie is written on it, along with say speed and size tags.

Redworks has been a huge inspiration for the creation of my Os, However I notice that you mark your Os as "User Friendly" witch in some ways is true but I find your Os to be more "Coder Friendly" as I am sure if I were to show the Os to just anyone they would have a hard time to figure it out. Also I found Redword is a little sketchy. Perhaps you should consider refining your Os to be better in those areas. Anyways just a suggestion.
