I'm recruiting game developers.
Not the Lua kind, though. The C# people.
XNA Game Studio is what we'll be using.
If you'd like to join, message me.

I doubt you'll find many (if any) people who will want to work with you on a Lua forums. Try stackoverflow or something.

I did, not too many people know C#.
I'm actually a bit surprised since it's a pretty easy language..

The reason no one uses C# is because it's basically a copy-paste of Java.

I wouldn't say it's not used, because I know of a very well-known use for C#/XNA. I also believe Terraria was made with XNA.

And the language itself, yes, you could say it's very similar to Java, and maybe even go as far as call it a complete clone, but as far as cross-compatibility goes, that's where C#/XNA falters, where Java could basically run on toasters.

However, Java is known for being notoriously slow and not very resource-friendly, so from my point of view, there's really no clear winner. It's all subjective, and depends on ones point of view and purpose.

As far as resources are concerned, C# wins, but not by a huge amount.

But for speed, recent benchmarking by well respected sources (also includes memory usage in those statistics) show that Java 7 is in fact reasonably faster than C# in most use cases.

Although it is similar to Java, they are not the same. Apple machines can't do XNA, and yes Terraria was made in XNA.

Hi
I have some experience with C# and that is my main language. I have worked with XNA framework and also with SFML .NET game library.
Please contact me with more information about your project :D/>

Last time I checked C# was invented before Java, so if anything is copying one or the other it is Java copying C# NVM, I doubled checked, C# was invented in 2000 Java was invented 1995, but C++ is better :P/>

You're all wrong. Clearly Erlang is the world's greatest language:

When C++ has a movie dedicated to it with an outfit as vintage as these guys maybe I'll change my mind :P/>

On Topic: Though I have a good working knowledge of C# I'm afraid I can't help on this project.

I know quite a bit about C# and XNA (I've made tower defence in XNA for a college project), so I'd consider helping if I had more time.

As for C# being a 'Java clone', you might as well call C++ a 'C Clone'.
It's true that C# was based on Java, but it has features that Java doesn't have yet like lambda expressions and the ability to create closures.
It's true Java currently runs on more platforms, but there's nothing stopping .Net binaries from being run on other platforms, it's just a matter of porting the .Net equivalent of the JVM onto said system.
Luckily there's already one of these available (named Mono) which allows .Net code to run on Android, OS X, BSD, Solaris and games consoles such as PS3 and Wii.
.Net programs are a lot more portable than given credit for, people just tend to discredit them because the word 'Microsoft' is stamped on them.

It's true Terraria was written in XNA and in fact if it wasn't for XNA Minecraft wouldn't exist.
For those of you who know about infiniminer - that was written in C# using XNA.
Minecraft could have easily been written in C# or C++, but Notch chose Java because it's the language he likes, not because it's any better than any other language.

In summary:
Enough fighting over languages, every language has its place, if this project is using C#, it's using C# end of.
