Lots of people are saying that PDA's should function just like a computer. I don't like that idea because it's unrealistis and defeats the point of having a normal computer. Here's my suggestion for the PDAs:
- Cannot create/modify programs. Programs must be transferred onto the PDA from a PC with a disk drive.
- Internal storage limit. Say, you can only have 3 player-made programs on the device, or a combined code limit of 500lines or so.
- Limited APIs and programs. For a start, an item can't emit a redstone signal, so thats the redstone api out of the window. I also think some of the more complex programs (worm, alongtimeago etc) should not be on the device because of the small internal storage.
- Integration with turtles. I love the idea of a remote control turtle. Just think how much fun you could have trolling your friend's base from a vantage point in a nearby tree. The possibilities for this are endless. Obviously this would require a wireless turtle and a PDA with a modem.
- As an alternative to putting the pda in a diskdrive and manually cp-ing the file across, PDAs with a modem should be able to download (but not upload) files from pastebin as long as theyre within the storage limit
- Expensive recipes. Gold and diamonds should be in the crafting recipe for the PDA so it's a challenge to make one. (Maybe even an emerald)
- Smaller GUI. Maybe 15*10 instead of the default 50*18
- Cut-down CPU. Longer time between operations, shutdown if program too complex (Don't know how this would be measured?)
Also lots of people are talking about PDAs being used as mobile phones. Really, whats the point? You already have minecraft chat and /msg.
Thanks for reading my suggestions, any comments welcome :)/>
