there should be a progjam.
this would be a competion of programs/API`s/utilities etc.
there would be 4 catagories:
programs,turtle programs, API`s and utilities.
Just like we have on this forum.
there would be a judge.
the judge would just judge on how effective the program/API/utility/turtle program is.
the community judges on how they think about it.
the winner`s creation would be implemented into vanilla computercraft.

APIs are utilities.

Other than that, I'm on board with a competition type thing, maybe if it had a theme and not just "who can make the best program EVER" because we'd see a lot of OSes.

ok, there are really a lot of OSes, so OSes should be its own catagory and i like that there is a theme.
what theme should the first competition be? building?

It would be fun if we had a competition wherein everyone would have to make the same program (with specific features) and the winner would be the one who could do it with the fewest characters. It would also help people learn how to write efficient code.

Too bad the point of jams is to write new programs.

I was looking at the title… what the hell is a "progjam"?

Assuming "Prog" means program, a jam is usually where a challenge is made to create something within a specified period of time. So in this case, OP is suggesting someone making a competition, where you make a CC program with limited time.

I personally think "ComputerCraft Projam" sounds better.

@Kingdaro
Well, sounds fun, but the competition should have some rules to make it a LOT harder, like no using functions (This is make it really hard). The program has to be coded sloppy (So it will be harder to fix an error), no using "Ask a pro". ect.

Voiding the use of AAP seems reasonable, not sure about the rest. :lol:/>

Not really. Usually in jams, people are given a theme, and then they make something out of it. Such as, they're given a theme of "You are the Villain", and have to make a game revolving around that theme.

Jams usually aren't held for utility programs and such, more just for games, but I don't see why people can't create an API out of "peer to peer collaboration", or something.

But I do agree with disallowing Ask a pro.

Well this would be really cool, but I wouldn't try it since I suck at making games…

that is just an idea, but we all agree that a competition would be nice.

For that cloudy and dan should be in the jury. Or else we might get [not useful stuff] into cc!

and of course 1 winner per catagory and it will be usefull when cloudy and dan are in the jury.
and we don`t want junk in cc, so the jury has to be really strand.

I'm fairly certain you can cross this off your list – only a small number of name-able programs which are practically 'must-have essentials' have been integrated from a few authors.

ok, we should ask what Cloudy and/or Dan thinks about it.
