The case of the missing week (or: where did the last 5 days of posts go?)

Hey all,

We've made a slight mistake with our hosting! Last week, the computercraft.info website was copied to a new web server, but DNS still pointed the old one, and people naturally kept posting on it. Today, the old server was destroyed, and the DNS updated to point the new one (that's why the site was down for a few hours), unfortunately the "new" server only had the data up to when it was created last week.

So that's where all the posts went!

It's very annoying, but unfortunately the old server's data can't be recovered now (the hard drive has been physically recycled by the hosting company), so we're going to have to deal with it and move on. Sorry!

Way to get back your topic: (if you posted one during this week)

1. Go to google.com.
2. Type "site:computercraft.info/forums2 " without quotation marks, then the title of your topic and search.
3. Find the search result, then by the green URL there is an arrow.
4. Click it, and click "Cached".
5. Select all of the topic, then Ctrl(or Cmd)+C it.
6. Select "Post New Topic" in the forums and paste.

This will work for most some topics.

Edit: Correction, some. Don't get your hopes up!

I agree with Lyqyd. That was quick physical destruction!

Hmmm I wonder if google had cached CCTicTacToe yet…

The server time settings seem to be off.

Oh wow.. thanks for this heads up. I still have the 1.5e if the admins of this forum need it for public download. The C version doesn't work for me, which is why Mike made E for me.

Mike made OpenCCSensors-0.1.5e as a fix to the crashing that was happening. He originally posted it.. but since everything has reverted back, its missing off the main OP where he originally had it for download.

So is THAT why my posts are gone…I thought it got deleted by dan or cloudy or someone for some odd reason…

Yea, I came on and was like "Uh, no, it's not 7:53 pm in my timezone, its 1:53 pm…"

That would also explain why my post count went from 178 to 142…

I try to read all private messages as soon as I get them. But I did have some on-going conversations with people which got deleted in the reset.

I had ongoing ones deleted. But like the reset happened just after I woke up, I saw the messages (didn't look at the senders), went and had breakfast, come back, servers down, its back up, messages = gone. :(/>
