I was just watching on the IRC channel, and I had to log off. So, as I was logging off, as I always do, I said Banhammer then I logged off. I was going to come on, and I tried to connect, but I had been banned. Can someone explain to me why I was banned?

I've been banned quite a few times from the IRC channel. :P/> I normally just wait a bit till I'm unbanned. But you should query one on the ops on the channel(Cruor, Cloudy, TangentDelta, AfterLifeLochie) and discuss the ban with them.

Ban evasion will only make it worse. I have seen entire IP ranges being banned to teach one person a lesson about obeying the rules.
If you feel that you need to skirt past the rules, then by all means, go right ahead.

Almost ALL IRC servers have some sort of a nickname service. In Esper's case, it's NickServ. You would know this had you read The EsperNet Rules.
When you have that service available to you, you have the responsibility to control your nickname, and ensure that unauthorized access is not allowed. So when somebody uses your computer to do shenanigans on your behalf, it's generally your fault for not securing your own profile.

That's not the point i was making. You have options on every computer to lock your stuff, with a password for almost anything. What happens with your profile is your responsibility. You had the option of changing your password, or locking your computer witha password. Obviously, that didn't happen.

If it's a laptop, you can lock it easily by closing it. Default in Windows, is when closed, and a password is set up, it will re-open witha password prompt.
Either way, you can also access your IRC account from a webchat, and change the password in case you have it on the computer. What happens with your profile is your responsibility. It would be the same thing if your facebook account is left open at a computer store, and a bunch of people switched all your pictures to porn.
I don't know how long you're banned, as I'm not an IRC op. I didn't ban you.

Well a IP address just means the same network. His attacker could've stole his computer and gone home with it while he is using a alternative computer to access the forums now.

It's kinda like a very quick assassination attempt. Catch your enemy with surprise, knock him out of his chair, 'kill' him (Here, spamming) and the job is done.

How? He's a bully, what do you expect? Knock someone down, get them banned from their usual routine, and he is physically assaulted and can't continue with his daily routine.

I mean, Im assuming now its just some brother or sister of yours who wanted to be annoying, because.. Why would you assault someone to type random crap?
Really, please come back when you are ready to accept that you cannot reverse this process, and maybe someone might eventually unban you..
