Minecraft pauses every 30 seconds?

I am playing minecraft on a windows 8 pc, and it will not quit pausing every 30 seconds it is making it impossible to play at all… Is it just this pc or are other people having this same problem?

When you press Escape/ Whatever you have your exit key set to.

When it does it, look at the task bar in Windows. Is the Minecraft icon highlighted or not? Maybe something is taking focus away from minecraft, which causes it to pause.
