Why post lock when locking?

This is something that I was wondering. Is their a reason that mods post "Lock" when locking topics. It just seems redundant to me. With the expectation of post with a reason on it make them fell it like they are the "bad guy". (even thou I know they need to put the hammer down for the sake of the fourms.)

It's just so that (afaik) the people can know why it was locked, and so other moderators can know who locked it? :?

They most likely have logs to show who did. But it's good to see why it was locked so people don't make the mistake in the future.

Mostly so the rest of the administrative/moderatorial teams know who took the action. And when we're locking topics, we're not being/feeling like "bad guys", really. We're just taking out the trash, so to speak.

I love "Taking out the trash"
But yeah, I just post it's locked usually because I am saying why it was locked, and what not to do in the future.
