Simulation Limitations?

First of all, this is a pretty sweet mod.

Second, I have a question. This might be a question about MC in general, but I wonder what kind of limitations there are on ComputerCraft such as
Max number of nodes on a network ?
Max distance from player (in SP and MP) Computer can be and still continue to operate ?
Max number of Computers ?
Max practical resource usage (are large byte arrays a problem?) in computers ?
any other limitations I you think I might want to know about

Only limitations that I'm aware of is what the server/your computer can handle running.

after investigating a bit it appears that turtles will stop running after I move ~300m away from them in sp and mp

Turtles/Computer stop working as soon as the chunk they are in becomes unloaded.

while I don't know the max i can tell you that i have 36 computers two of witch have large monitors and the others are used for networking all loaded at the same time and running perfectly on a 1.66 GHz processor with 1 GB of RAM (intel(R) Atom(TM))
