Ccjam, Modjam For Cc Programmers
Started by kboy101222, 22 July 2013 - 11:49 AMPosted 22 July 2013 - 01:49 PM
As you all have probably figured, CCJam has been dropped. I know this post is old, but I would like to request a lock/ deletion (if possible) of this thread. I didn't officially hand over the competition to CreeperDJ, but considering his attempt failed as well, I see no point in continuing trying this. JZTech and Wolfmitchel, the people I handed the competition over to, also had reality catch up with them, so they won't be taking over the competition. Thanks to all who attempted and thanks to our judges, but sadly all things, good or bad, must eventually come to an end. Good bye for now folks!

And just do everyone knows, you don't have to win the contest or whatever this is to submit a program for inclusion.

I do want to reiterate that anything added to an upcoming version of ComputerCraft will be done so only after careful review by the devs. Your program may not be included in any version of ComputerCraft, even after being voted as the winner.
Please note that malicious programs are NOT permitted, and can result in a ban from these forums.
This includes so called 'griefer tools' that do no lasting damage, but the main intent is to 'grief' or otherwise cause trouble or distress for the user/victim. These will be absolutely banned, as they are not allowed on these forums.

I can't develop my own API? That's stupid. No passwords? Also dumb. I'm sorry to be rude, but those rules just seem dumb to me. Again, I'm sorry, I just want to speak my opinion.

I'm saying no programs that simply require a password to access a computer or to open a door. And I've now removed the no external API rule due to popular demand.

Well, now that the rules have been lifted, do you need another judge? I can be UI judge.

Well, programs don't really require a UI, so I'm not sure how that would work out

UI and GUI aren't the same. Even if you only use print() and read() to interact with the player, you have a UI. So basically every program that is interacting with the player in any way except command line arguments has a UI.Well, now that the rules have been lifted, do you need another judge? If you win, you will be submitted for approval by Dan200 (computercraft creator) to be included in disks that will spawn in dungeon chests (this will be added to an upcoming update of CC).
This has been confirmed?

As far as I can tell there is no theme within the OP, so I'm guessing it's just random

I'm the judge of functionality and this is what I'll be judging on:
- Error handling (What happens if there's a problem?)
- Does it run? (It should at least start)
- Does it run as it is supposed to? (It should run like you want it to)
- Does it crash? (Do any problems make it stop?)
Posted 25 July 2013 - 03:24 PM
"Does it run?" and "Does it crash?" are kind of the same thing.
Posted 25 July 2013 - 04:51 PM
I'm just kind of judging overall sense. Does the program make sense? Is it well-designed? Is it a piece of junk that you spent five minutes on?
Posted 25 July 2013 - 06:10 PM
Does it Crash? mean that does it ever have an error that completely stops it?
Posted 25 July 2013 - 06:16 PM
He's saying it's either one or the other.

Ill try to get as much out of the day and night to make a nice program, got an idea already.
One last thing, are we allowed to use CC-Emu or something similair?

I am sad to say that I am falling out,
I had to much problems with my previous version, spend to much time on it, and now I have like 4 hours left, which is just not enough.
Why do I have 4 hours left you ask?
I have stuff to do tomorrow (Birthday) so… yeah :/
Im realy sorry, I hope I will be able to 'compete' in the next CCJam

That is the installer which unpacks into a directory containing three files. You have to run the script called 'Main' from that directory in order to start the program. Pressing F10 will bring up the running programs interface where you can switch between running programs and start new programs if you want.

I am sorry I was not able to vote this round. I will be changing the rules of CCJam for next time. It will be most likely hosted on CCJam.wolfmitchell.com. All you will have to do is (hopefully) click the CCJam button! After it is fixed. Not fixed yet.

Yup I didn't submit anything for the simple fact that I didn't want to waste your guys' time. My program is nearly complete, but infested with bugs.
Handing it in for a competition and being graded would tear me apart and somewhat ruin my personal reputation.
But because I put a lot of work into it, you can still look at the code and ponder. (THIS IS NOT A SUBMISSION. DON'T TREAT IT LIKE A SUBMISSION.)
https://github.com/s...m/tree/master/0
Notes:
Program 'gc' is nothing in relation to the would-be-submitted program.
All it does is waits for touchscreen event and prints the coordinates. It helps me draw and plan things on the screen effectively.

Well, sadly, I was unable to submit my program on time due to the same reason as Steel_Toed_Boot. I was making a 'Dots and Boxes' game, but it was far from complete.
So, in the end, it seems there was only two people who submitted anything. I think it's pretty obvious who the winner is, but I'll leave it to the judges.
