OK, for those who want to BETA test this for me, this is a new installer. With some goodies for the DISK.. now.. if you install to Disk.. then everything should work fine. But installing it to computer is meticulous. I'll be working on that update soon so that it is noob friendly. Lots to come.

TorNet v0.3 - Installer – BETA

pastebin get eRy5B0p4 install

I gotta say, that's a nice program you got there! I tried it out and it works perfectly!

HAHA you cought me as I was updating it. I just posted a BETA on my post above. So if your wanting to BETA test, please send me feedback. I need all the bugs I can find to work this out.

Thanks :)/>
Yeah I tried it out with the initial version first (0.1). Then I tried it out with the new installer. I edited the config files but when I tried starting up the DNS in the bluenet tutorial, I get the text:

CraftOS 1.5
File not found
startup:10: attempt to index ? (a nil value)
>

I had the modem attached to the side I specified in startup.

I had the modem attached to the side I specified in startup.

That is explained in the OP. You have to specify where the modem is attached. In my video tutorial I also show you how to edit the startup files to show where your modem is located. ( Keep in mind, the video was for bluenet 1.1, but the editing for the modem position still applies. )

On another note, if your installing to disk, it should work once you set where the modem is. If your installing to Computer, then things are not working there yet. I had not had a chance to update those yet. The installer is probably looking for the BN files inside the bn folder. But, that is only if your installing to computer. The disk files are all setup for the BN folder.

Within the next few days, I should have the "Computer" install 'out-of-the' box up to date with the DISK version.
OK, I understand that. I'll be patient :)/>

Yea the FTP part technically never worked. At least, not smoothly. It was always hit and miss. And since I just started to take over this project, I am making the FTP the last thing on my list to work on, do to the fact that the previous archaic installer was not noob friendly. So I am rewriting most of Bluenet to TorNet. It will take time, but in a few days, I should have working webservers, routers as well as Tornet itself all working with the installer.

And will you publish a video tutorial soon after?

EDIT: Great job! I was able to register 2 domains using your tutorial and it didn't interfere with me personal advanced computer which happens to also have a modem attached.

This program really could show kids how the internet works. It has a lot of potential.

one thing i would like to see back in the update is that you can enter commands into the main serverthat would be great.
also what i just thought of is that you do not need a main server as you can build that into the routers. the router would just check if a router already exists hosting the main server otherwise it will start it itself in a new coroutine.
but there would also be security problems and stability problems.

So I came back because I was told someone posted on my thread and I wanted to get back in touch with them in case they had any questions. But then I find out that the thread had been locked.

http://www.computercraft.info/forums2/index.php?/topic/14766-toraktu-a-server-template-automated/

Notice, there STILL is no computer craft mod for 1.8.1 yet after 3 months. It took forever to wait on 1.7.10. Sorry I can't reply to anyone, these admins here keep locking my threads. This is the 3rd time. This is censorship. Anyone want to ask me anything, do not reply to these threads because the admins will just lock it down. Send me a private message instead. Unless they ban my account just for posting this.

I am really, really confused. This is from the other post:
I came back to find a ComputerCraft version for 1.8.1 and I see it still hasn't gotten to that point yet. I'm afraid that I will not bother with this site any longer since its dead. Sorry to see it go. It was the best mod around.
Are you kidding me?
Do you realise there's no Forge version out for 1.8 and it would be impossible for CC to be compatible with 1.8 just yet.
You sure jump to conclusions quickly…

Looking at the Forge page, there are still no recommended builds for forge, I can't think of a single mod that has been released for 1.8 yet. Also, there have been large amounts of infrastructure change in the 1.8 release, so upgrading a mod will take a lot of time anyway.

1.8.1 has been out for around 4 months. This mod still hasn't cought up yet. That is the point. The other point is, the mods here love to lock threads. It's censorship. So I am done with this mod and I will no longer support it. I am taking all my code down.

Yea thats because the site looked dead.. once I posted that, then poof, a 1.7.10 is suddeny here.. but still no 1.8.1. It took 6 months just to get a 1.7.10.

This constant censorship from the mods is why I am so fucking pissed !

Because forge just got updated a while ago. What if computercraft switched from lua to java. You would have to update your code for a long time. That is what such a huge infrastructure change is like.
Plus if you have school, it will take longer, and then you have other things. Dan has a life you know :/

Forge updated 3 months ago. Even the admin was saying forge was already updated to 1.8 in my previous locked thread. Forge has been up to 1.8.1 for a long while now as well. :/

Since the admins love to censor everything, they will most likely lock this thread too. Good luck to you all. It was the best mod around. I still think it is, but sadly its under bad management.

Cheers

The previous thread was locked after a (removed) series of useless replies poking fun at your ridiculous assertion that ComputerCraft was a dead mod due to not having been updated to 1.8, despite the fact that the first release of Forge for that version (and not even a recommended release!) had only come out less than two days prior. Those useless posts, combined with your stated intent to no longer participate in the forum, precipitated the lock. You'll note that your posts were not removed, so your claims of being censored are entirely invalid. You'll note that the forum staff hasn't deleted any of your ranting posts in this topic, either.

If you choose to leave the forums, that's entirely up to you. If you choose to continue to come back rarely only to rant about how mistreated you were the last time you came back and to berate the forum staff and the creator of the mod, and complain about the update schedule, you will rapidly find your welcome here wearing out.

If you wish to discuss these issues further, feel free to PM me.

Now, since this is in the Programs section and you have chosen to remove the code, it is being locked. Feel free to report your post for unlocking if you decide to post code again.
