Not sure if it's just me, but when I try to visit "computercraft.info", I get the default webpage error page. However, if I try to go to "www.computercraft.info" I get the news page as expected. Does this happen for anyone else?

Might be your browser, mine automatically adds in 'www'

`www` isn't required in todays internet usage, as Csstform stated it is probably your browser, I suggest you clear all your caches and try again.

its not actually your browser that adds the `www` its the ComputerCraft server.
