Hey guys, I recently got into playing tekkit with my friend. First thing I did with my diamonds is get myself a mining turtle, and for now, its two stock programs work just fine. However, I am realizing these programs are entirely useless to put on other turtles. So, long story short,

Anybody got a program for this?

Basically I need a program that hunts down wood blocks in a radius. If it finds a log block, it mines it and anything it its way. It continues this process within said radius, until there are no longer any more logs to hunt down. I know a similar process can be done with mining turtles, so why not everyone's favorite axe happy lumberjack?

Moved your topic to Ask A Pro for better visibility. If you have questions, ask here. You get better help.

Moved to General.

Edit: this sat on my phone for a while before I moved it, Ask a Pro and General would both work as good places for this topic.

Hi there

What you are asking is very similar to the first stages in the self-replicating turtle script I recently posted
It starts at the base of a tree, and harvests all trees in a 33 x 33 area, leaving the landscape intact where possible, with the original tree at the centre.
It also refuels itself from the logs it harvests.
If you are able to pre-load the turtle with 1 block of dirt, grass, stone, cobble, gravel and sand, it would be immediately able to ignore those blocks and mine anything else around.
Using a crafty felling turtle makes it a bit easier, as it will not collect blocks of stone, cobble or ores.
The script could be very easily adapted for your purpose.

The post is (currently) here: http://www.computercraft.info/forums2/index.php?/topic/18592-self-replicating-turtle-revisited/
(It was probably put in the wrong forum, as it would be better in the turtle section ?maybe a mod could move it?)

Sorry, need a bit more info for this:

Is the land flat? Is it covered with saplings? If so it wouldn't be too difficult, although I'd recommend using birch or spruce saplings as the large oak tree variants could cause problems.

Sorry for unclarity. I basically want a program that I can take a felling turtle, sic it on a forest, and have a chest with logs in it when I come back. Ideally it only removes leaf blocks in its way and goes over normal terrain. Obviously when I get a planter and harvester array working I won't need this anymore, but it could be very helpful for now.

I have started to modify the script to do what you asked, so it should not take long.
It can cope with more than one tree type.
At the moment saplings are harvested and an 8-tree farm is produced to keep the supply going.
Is this something you could use?

Well depends on what you got.
if, the area is flat then that's easy to do.
all you need is at least one wood to use as a reference for the turtle and its going.
If it isn't flat, that becomes complicated.

At this point I may just abandon the idea. I'm not seeing any benefit over a harvester and planter that automatically replant. Oh well, thanks for trying to help. Ill just use my turtles for shafting and mining out large rooms underground like usual.
