Also, I'm pretty sure that the Watch Dog's Operating System is called ctOS, not wdOS. Unless you decided to purposefully name it wdOS.

Sorry! I never played Watch Dogs and only watched let's plays! Now that OS will be called ctOS

I would avoid using ctOS name cause it may have some copyright above it, other wise my OS would be ctOS.. I have some next features inspired in it.

Then why do you call this 'wdOS' in your topic?

Also, to me this is just a screensaver. Not really anything to it.

Even though this is only a screensaver(for now…),the graphics are amazing!

EDIT:This is not a screensaver(version 2 isn't I don't know about version 1…)!If you right click you can add icons!Awesome!

Hmm. Nice boot screen, a bit annoyingly slow though, and not bad overall. I'd like to see more features though.

I guess it's a bit nicer than the previous version, but still lacks functionality. Also, after adding an icon, it errors out on boot (boot:88: Expected image, x, y)

I'm on CC-Lite(on my slow laptop) and I don't get the error, can someone try to reproduce this error on minecraft?

You seem to miss the definition of an OS…
This is not an OS, just a program with pretty colored sparkles.

Hello all,
[offtopic]
I've been inactive for a long time (I was mostly only reading) but now when I see this topic I feel like I cannot ignore the discussion.
[/offtopic]

ctOS (stands for centralized or central operating system) is a massive network sharing personal information of all its users in a large cloud of data designed to provide better functionality and effectiveness of various systems of the city Chicago from the Watch Dogs game (I do play Watch Dogs).
Watch Dogs wiki on wikia.com says:
Produced by the Blume Corporation, CTOS controls the electrical infrastructure in Chicago. The system is the fundamental weakness of the city, as it can be hacked into via a collection of backdoor viruses and used as a weapon against the city and its inhabitants.
[comment]I don't think your system is capable of any of the features provided by the real ctOS[/comment]
I cannot say this isn't an operating system, because I was warned by Lyqyd before about my "This isn't an OS" posts (dunno if anyone is / was interested), so I will only say that this isn't a ctOS.

For a comparation, here's what ctOS from WD is capable of controlling:
Systems controlled by the CTOS
Bollards and Spike Strips
Bridge Access
Electricity Grid
Lights / Traffic Lights
The L Train
Underground gas and water pipes .
Crime Prediction System
Security Cameras
ATMs / Bank Accounts
TVs and Video Adverts
Taken from the Watch Dogs wikia page

The trailer on ctOS should convince you, if my other words didn't.

As you can see, the ctOS is a very advanced network with a vast world of advantages and features you can use (or, in Watch Dogs, misuse), not a screensaver. It's a good idea to try to rebuild something like ctOS in Minecraft/ComputerCraft but it's definitely not a good idea to start coding with that kind of project.

For more information, I recommend you to try the Watch Dogs game, visit the WeAreData project, ctOS real website and the Watch Dogs wiki with a combination of PIL

EDIT:The point is, ctOS was not designed to control one computer (or, more specifically, PC), but to connect the systems of the city network with personal information of it's users. It has no common user interface, instead, applications communicating with ctOS provide the GUI for the user so he/she can log into the ctOS network and use its features. Anyway, how would you create an UI for a system controlling bridges, trains, and surveillance cameras? It may have a kind of shell or GUI designed for IT specialists and operators of the network, but not for general purpose. Inhabitants of Chicago do not run ctOS on their computers/mobile devices, because ctOS was not designed for that purpose. When creating such a system, I would definitely not start with the GUI when it has nothing to control. I would start with an API to link all the controlled subsystems together (and ofc, first of all build the subsystems) and a shell to operate them, then try to build upon it.

A note on how ctOS links data
ctOS links data of it's users in a similar way Google does it with advertisements and search results. It stores the interest of an individual and then modify it's behaviour to match the individual's liking. For an example, let's say that ctOS was about to navigate you through the city and there were two exactly equal paths you could go to get to the destination in time. CtOS knows that you like blue colour. It would thus select the path with more blue objects. (This is a very basic example, ctOS would also decide upon current traffic, community level in that district, potential crime probability, healthcare level etc etc.)

Edit2: the blinking "hacked-style" UI of Watch_Dogs is there bcs of the hacks used by Aiden Pearce, it's not a pure ctOS UI. The in game advertisements for ctOS shows how the UI could look like pretty well.

EDIT3 (prior to 0.4): The WeAreData project does far more than your OS (as of the data collection and management) and it's not even an OS. Think of it, OneOS has more than 21 000 LOC (lines of code) and it doesn't even collect user data or base it's "decisions" upon it.

I could see getting *some* of the ctOS functionality.

I think it would be possible to use a player detector with a computer connected that would allow you to 'profile' nearby players on a wireless pocket computer. You could also simulate some of the 'control' via redstone triggering (lights, doors, TNT, other redstone stuff).

It wouldn't be nearly as capable as the ctOS in Watch Dogs, but I think there is potential. The downside is that, just like ctOS, you'd need a rather complex infrastructure (of player detectors, computers, various redstone triggers, etc.) in place to take advantage of these ideas.

Did you paint icon and saved it?

Im working on using Pocket Computer for remote control: On Pocket, make shortcut to program on computer

You better add some features and then release it. Nobody cared about screensaver. 0.2 little interesed me because you can control lights remotely, but not that much. Add more features in the next version. Better update less frequently but add more features

I really don't know what is wrong with the OS!You can add icons and stuff(that's still good considering it's only at version 0.2).

Anyway,please make the bootscreen optional.

Every day add some features, updates with more and better made features are the way better than frequent updates that are with not that many features and big chance to make bugs

1. Now i adding more features than first days of that OS.
2. In this OS has no one bug! When i releasing feature, i make Full Test of that feature and Fixing ALL Possible bugs! Bugs can't be in this OS! If you find a bug you do not correctly use that OS! That is Fact!

I don't see the point of such an OS I mean ctOS is an os that help in controling a city as long as the is a city. and the thing that makes it op is that it is easy to hack. So with that said I double there are cities of computers all conected together in minecraft servers having computercraft. SO the ctOS is of no use…..for now at least….I dunno thats my opinion on the topic. I mean if there were cities that could use such a thing why not, but it still needs to be an OS that can CONTROL the city not just a fancy looking OS

You can do it! Download city map. Then make programs which will control the city and on ctOS Remote make broadcasts! And you got ctOS like in Watch Dogs! (you need more than 1 pocket))
