Now this is a minor suggestion, not so important but really nice to add. Basically it will be a block that will be able to run sound files. The files can be generated inside the computer and then given to the block to play. This can really help making nice games and really neat programs. I mean what is an explosion without a sound?! The program can use the same notes as the noteblocks.

You can actually wrap command blocks. And with being able to play sound files from command blocks, this is already possible.

I'd like to see this for 1 reason: command blocks are unattainable in survival mode (for good reasons).

That's exactly what I was thinking so in multiplater (unless the server is your or you are moderator etc.) you won't be able to aquire command blocks

The only reason I suggested this idea is because I think that computercraft needs to inovate if it wants to move forward. Plus music is a must for most programs (mostly for the music and gaming industry but that doesn't mean it can't be used elsewhere). I mean look at the games in the treasure disks…they, in my opinion, aren't so nice (not wanting to offend anybody) BUT they could become much more interesting with music.

Computronics has tape drives which let you play music: http://mc.shinonome.ch/doku.php?id=wiki:computronics:tape

But what if I don't want computronics or the server doesn't use the mod, but I still want to create music and use it in programs and games?

Alternatively a single note block can be used with OpenPeripheral, or for an even more compact solution you can use MoarPeripherals' Iron Note Block.
