Currently there's a GUI demo for installer. that'll be the semi-final look for the installer and the actual program.

Re5cu3 is pretty self-explanatory. Unless you don't know l33t.

Some info:
Re5cu3 is a computer rescue program. It runs off of a single floppy. There will be a few editions:
1. Standalone Edition (SE)
2. Normal Edition (NE)
3. Complete Edition (CE)
4. Easy Edition (EE)
SE:
Self-Contained, but offers limited functionality.
NE:
Normal. Suggested Version for Normal People.
CE:
Complete. Suggested Version for geeky people.
EE:
Has suggested solutions and all that crap. For CC Noobs. Bloated.
Keep in mind that there will be a customisable installer probably pretty soon after version b1.0 comes out.
The GUI will not be pretty except on ee, but that will probably not be out till v1.0
Time Scechdules:
p1.0: NE
a1.0: SE
b1.0: CE
v1.0: EE
It will look like DOS.

The word "Re5sc3" doesn't tell me anything about what this program will do. Could you tell me what it is?

Basically by moving/renaming/deleting the startup file? Wouldn't it be simpler to just make an empty startup program in a disk and use that?

lol. I mean that it also wipes some OSes, like a recovery mode. This one gives you ability backup some files, and it can wipe your whole computer, and some more guff. like auto-fixing, etc.
I'll probably add some auto-fixes for various OSes.

I have always been curious… how do you (and all the others before you) calculate your completion progress? how do you know you're 10% done?

XD. IDK… Because this is a multi-file program, I'll just get the fraction of files completed and total files and turn it into a precentage.
For example, (Just an example) I have 25 files to done, I've done 3 files, that will be 3/25. 3/25 x 100% = 300/25 %, and 300/25% = 12%. That's How I will calculate. BTW that's a fake one.

When people demand hard values of "how far done is a project" I usually just look at how many total features there are and how many are complete. Obviously, this isn't entirely accurate because some features take way longer to code and test than others, but those quick calculations usually satisfy most people.

You know what we say in industry? nothing, we say that we're progressing, that's it, there is no way to quantify progress of a development progress, even if the clients aren't happy with that.

You and I must work in two different industries then because the industry I work in clients tend to stop sending checks if you can't give them satisfactory progress reports.

currently the GUI looks like BOOTMGR (the windows 7 boot loader)

That's true, and most developers know the difference. But many clients have no idea how the development process works and do often (in my experience) expect progress reports to include arbitrary numbers. I've been asked on numerous occasions "about how far along in the project are you?" or "how close to completion is the project?" and many times the only thing they want to hear are numbers. That's been my experience anyway.
