In this thread, share musical interests, be it what you listen to while coding, or just what you like in general. This has been cobbled together from several threads, so be prepared for out-of-order or otherwise unusual posts.

Easy. Emancipator- either of his albums (Soon it will be cold enough, and Safe in the Steep Cliffs)
Good listening music- melodic enough to not sound like noise but not intrusive enough to get in the way of thinking.

Note:I do not want this thread to be locked within the first 24 hours due to people yelling at each other.

I made this thread because I want to see what people on this forum are into.

I don't know about you guys but my favorite music genre is metal. There is just some magic about the drums, guitar and singing.
I realize everybody is entitled to their opinions, so please don't yell at everybody in the comments if they have a different opinion. Leave your favorite music genre and why you love it in the comments section.

If you guys like metal or just want to try something different, you can find my playlist here.

I know some (most in fact) might completely disagree with my opinion, but I cannot stand modern pop music.

My favourite genre is Classical music. Not Bach/Beethoven/Mozart though (although, they do have many merits, and have composed many fantastic pieces, they are no where near my favourites). I much prefer the music from the Romantic/Contemporary Period. Best Piano Concerto of all time (incase people are interested): Rachmaninoff's 3rd. Second best: Prokofiev's 2nd. Third best: Scriabin's One and Only. Again, many people in the classical music world will disagree. These are simply the concertos I enjoy the most.

I love procrastinating from working on Firewolf 2.2 :D/>

I find also believe "Modern Pop" is a bad "music genre", I can agree with you there. I also have nothing against Classical music but I also do not like it. I would never of thought you would of liked that music genre.

I also love "Pop rock" (F.O.B, the Killers, Kaiser Chiefs (I think), etc.), that has always been a favorite of mine :)/>
To say that an entire genre is all rubbish just because the most popular songs in that genre are rubbish is, in my opinion, a bit naive… Some of today's "modern pop" is still good, the genre is just infested with no-talent celebrities.

I don't have a specific genera. I also think setting influences my music choices.for call of duty knifing rampage i like hight tempo music with a strong base. for snipping i like no sound so as to hear approaching enemies.

Some music I like
SpoilerAloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar
Linkin Park - One Step Closer (COD MW3 favorite)
The Black Keys - Gold On The Ceiling
David Guetta - She Wolf (Falling To Pieces)
Ram Jam - Black Betty (COD MW3 second favorite)
Birdy - Skinny Love
Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country
Drowning Pool - Bodies
Strung Out - Calling
Black Sabbath - Children Of The Grave
CCR Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son
The Vines - get free
Arch Enemy - Nemesis (the solo is insane)
The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
Orianthi - Suffocated
Muse - super massive black hole ( I am not a fan of twilight )
Gorillaz < all songs*
- Feel Good Inc (favorite)

Ow and the ending sequence to the matrix is also something i like. I was playing assassins creed brother hood and the matrix at the same time. the trailer for that game looks even more epic with matrix music as backing.

As you can tell from the list I like a wide range of songs from no specific genera or group. I tent to let songs individually speak fro the selves with our writing them off based of genera or the band that made them.

EDIT #2:
Also, I have recently been listening to "Baba Yetu" way too much, but that's an awesome song (main song from Civ4, won a grammy) and "Build that wall" from Bastion is epic, it only seems to sound good to people who have played the game though, I at least didn't like it until I had finished the game :P/>

We're not here to judge you, If you enjoy it, be proud to say you listen to it. :)/>/>/>

Au contraire, the internet knows no other purpose than to judge. Well that and to create a fantastic platform for anarchist advertising and governmental pissing contests, but I digress.

As for what music I listen to:

Anything goes, but I actually really enjoy movie soundtracks. I like the sound of epicness playing in the background to match my computer activities ;)/>

Something that does drive my head insane. (Reference to Lil' Wayne, etc.) Dubstep is OK though. :/

The necromancy! No mortal is safe from the undead! RUN!!!

It's fine. Bumping old topics is a trade-off between adding to the old topic and creating a new one, and in this case, it makes way more sense to continue the old one.

I'd like to think that the intellectual capacity in CC Forums would overcome this common attitude of the internet.

I also like to listen to soundtracks, some of the scores from the likes of Transformers are fantastic.

I would like to think so as well, but in my experience even intelligence cannot ward off black magic as powerful as ignorance.

Transformers can often be good, but I think my favorites are from LOTR, Harry Potter (especially the first two), and any of the batman trilogy. That is some epic freakin music right there.

Anything with a lot of lyrics or too heavy bass + beats distracts me too much. I need to have some clarity of thought when programming as I'm usually trying to hold on to several ideas at once, so any unrelated words making their way into my consciousness throw me right off.

I go for something like Tycho, or some Bach.

I'd say deadmau5, pretty much any album he made is good.
aphex twin is nice if you want to experiment with something a bit more subtle, though I normally don't recommend it because of its unique style (clicky)
Infected mushroom - the other side, or army of mushrooms. Pretty experimental but cool nontheless
If you like the new german summerhit klangkarussell - sonnentanz, then give Bakermat a try as well
If you like electroswing but Bakermat wasn't really it, try goldfish. They have some amazing songs out there (we come together, for instance)

For something more towards the pop genre:
awolnation - megalithic symphony (try the song "sail" if you want a good sample)
ugress - ugress, a bit weird but you should at least listen to their "spiderman theme"

Many forums have something related to this, so I thoght I may as well make one for us.

My favourise style of music is rock, preferably heavy metal. My favourite heavy metal band is Metallica, and my favourite Metallica song is either Fade to Black, Ride the Lightning, Enter Sandman, Whiskey in the Jar, For Whom the Bell Tolls or The Call of Ktulu. My favourite person is Metallica is Kirk Hammett.

So basic layout:
Style of Music
Musician/Band
Song
Individual in band. (If chosen band)

My favourite style of music is post-hardcore / metalcore / punk (somewhere there). My favourite bands are Woe, Is Me and Issues, I say two because the old singer of woe is me is now in issues as woe is me split up. My favourite song from Woe, Is Me is Vengeance and my favourite song from Issues is Love, Sex, Riot, this is because my other favourite band's (Atilla) singer is in this song. My favourite band member is Tyler Carter of course.

I listen to people like Porter Robinson and Nero (28.08.15 new album), as well as Zedd and Avicii. I listen to a lot of Monstercat albums from time to time to time to.

Probably the most recent album I've listened to the most is either Link (Spotify), or Zedd's new Album, True Colors. Link (Spotify)

Though I tend to listen this the most Recently while coding:
