Hi,

I like having turtles mining over large distances and would love being able to control them from far far away (more than 50 blocks). Currently the only way I can think of is keeping a line of turtles between the control terminal and the actually mining turtle and making them forward my commands.

Including a long range transmitter might make this a little easier. I thought of them being just like a wifi-modem but crafted with rarer items (e.g. blaze rod). They could transmit signals at up to 200 blocks distance to any other long range transmitter within line of sight. Oviously this would require turtles to load chunks by themselves to actually enable them operating very far away and it might be necessary to load all of the chunks in between two long range transmitters to determine whether they are in line of sight of each another.

Actually if you just calculate LOS when the block is placed, you could just load them once for a few seconds to check, then unload again. Just make them not able to be placed on turtles, and you'd have to make a relay program betwee your long-range antenna and local wifi.
