What is CCU Online?

CCU Online is a way for young grasshoppers to learn about all the aspects of

programming for computercraft on their own time

basically its a youtube channel

How do i enroll in such an amazing program?

Why not just use a MC Server?

do you not know that CCU 1-5 Have all been failures? theres a reason you know

to many people drawing porn on pocket computers, i'm talking bout you scratchthatguys

Is there a way i can be helpful?

Yes there is!

You can become a professor!

just get really old, put on a white lab coat, adopt the catch phrase "Good News Everyone", and start an interplanetary delivery company

The forum mods don't like shortened urls, change your "click me" link.

I'm guessing that you have read these:
http://www.computerc...p?/topic/23208-
http://www.computerc...p?/topic/21406-
If not then you may find some of the contents useful.

Thanks for realising that the server thing doesn't work.

He's a recommendation for people who are submitting videos to this project: do a live stream of you recording the video. That way, the chat can ask questions if you don't explain something clearly.

There are quite bit of yourubers who produce CC tutorials. However, they miss the more advanced topics as metatables, environements and OOP.

I like the idea!

What may be a good idea is "transcribing" (or rather un/de/anti-transcribing?) some of the tutorials in the tutorial sub-forum.

I know of a few people who learn better from a video then from reading text.

Another suggestion, maybe you should provide an intro and outro format, it will help with consistency.

That may be an option. Maybe, maybe I will find time. Only maybe.

Tell me a good reason why you think a seventh iteration won't be a failure.
The pattern is pretty clear.

This is NOT a minecraft server, it is a youtube channel for video tutorials on computercraft

Indeed but same name, same idea and most of these CCU ideas lack the quality of work and the in-depth code skills, it is all basics which can be learnt of the forums, don't get me wrong it's a good idea, just change the name? Plus the person needs to have a lot of knowledge.

From the looks of it you do not post code either, so i can't really see how "good" you are?

Don't get me wrong; not saying it's a REALLY BAD idea, just maybe change the name and stop following the CCU trend as the name has been used over and over and I think CCU1/2 were the best? I don't know; I never used them :P/>

But on a positive note, good luck! Would like to see something like this do a lot better than a server :P/>.
If you are doing videos, maybe do them in bits on each API / Topic? I would love to contribute as well?:P/> There are still API's I have never used :P/> Vector, Bit xD So if you go over them then that would be cool.

Just make sure you have a firm idea of what they are and what you are talking about, because this community will correct you very quickly :P/>.

This is idiotic, and redundant. A plethora of tutorials already exist, what makes this any better?

When you read a text, you use your eyes. Visual learners benefit from this.

When you watch a video, you use your eyes and your ears. Good for audiovisual learners.

When you want to learn programming, you type/play with code. You don't try to remember forum text or video sound…

Don't misunderstand me, text & video tutorials are awesome! But normal learning techniques don't apply in the case of programming in my opinion, as you are not trying to memorize stuff.

@OP maybe upload the first tutorial yourself, so we can get an idea of the expected quality and video length. Some rules about the videos would be usefull to ensure some consistency between them.

Not really for the intended purpose, but you might want to look into http://plug.dj, Setup a room and give Teachers the "Resident DJ" group, while locking the playlist and disabling DJ Cycle so teachers can play tutorials and students can ask questions and such still

Looks cool! I will try to submit some tutorials of my own one of these days.

(Hopefully this isn't too necroposty)

this is a very good idea. but please contenue it. i have quit cc pretty much, but i will say, my cc career was ruined because i never learned what oop and metatables are for

At first I thought this was an interactive-tutorial online, then I found out it was YouTube videos, I wish you best of luck even though I have a bad feeling about it( as I've had with the most CCU projects )
How can you ensure the quality of all videos? And the "skills" of the people who create them, they may be good at teaching, and bad at coding vice-versa.
So even though they're great at teaching stuff, they may give people bad coding habits etc if they have little knowledge of coding themselves.

I like how this isn't taking off (surprise there..) after two months. The channel has 2 subscribers and 0 videos. I think sticking to text tutorials here in the tutorials section and on the lua pil is more then enough to get one started with lua. It takes time, but everything takes time if you want to learn something

I have been meaning to do a live stream while making a video for this (live stream can ask question if I don't explain very well), just haven't found time.
