So I posted this a while ago, about a game I made. It was actually Greenlit about a week ago and we're releasing it on Steam next week. The store page is live already, can be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/391170

If you want to read it, here's the old post:
SpoilerHey CC forums, how's it going?

Been a while since I checked this place out (6 months actually o_O)
I guess I've been distracted by other projects and school stuff.

Anyway, I feel pretty guilty about this but I'm back to ask you guys for help.
For the past 5 months or so I've been working on a game with a friend of mine. It's a pretty good game in my opinion, and apparently other people thought so too, because it got more than 11k views and 1,500 plays on Game Jolt (even got featured there).

So, after a while we were contacted by a marketing company to publish the game on Steam. Before it can go on Steam, though, it needs to receive enough votes on Steam Greenlight. I (we) would really appreciate it if you guys would check it out and leave a vote if you like it. The Greenlight page can be found here: http://steamcommunit...s/?id=465598518

We've also made a trailer (which is on the Greenlight page too):

Again, I feel really guilty for coming back only to promote my game, but I hope to be a little more active again in the future.

Thanks everyone and have a nice day :D/>/>

Thanks for checking this out.

It seems like it would do better as a web game in my opinion.

We did consider making it a web game, but it isn't really possible. We're also limited by our contract, so yeah…

I think this wouldn't run on my potato toaster :(/> But it looks sooooooo cool :D/> It uses GL or DX for rendering?

Many explosions. Very colorful. Wow!

Haha, I think it should be able to run on semi-okay computers. It runs smoothly on my laptop with integrated graphics so I think you should be able to handle it. It uses DirectX for rendering.

Thanks for your comment :)/>

My potato toaster only supports DX9b and GL2.1, so I hope it'll be compatible :P/>

You should be okay, it requires DirectX 9.0 or up.

Wait until Valve + the openGL team are done with project Vulcan and code it on there. Its an OpenGL and dx12 replacement for linux and windows (and maybe mac, i dont remember) so yea.

But is it worth waiting? Vulkan won't really provide a significant performance boost for a 2D game like this. OpenGL would do the trick just as well. But regardless, this game, as it says on the Game Jolt page, was made in GameMaker: Studio, which means that OP doesn't really have a choice.

Not a performance boost issue, its a compat. issue. And i did not see that it was in GameMaker, which means my point is invalid until GameMaker exports with Vulkan, which i hope it does.

Yup, we're using GameMaker. We're building using something called the YoYo Compiler though, which supposedly makes everything run faster. It should run fine on decent PCs anyway. Linux/Mac builds are somethig we're seriously considering, they also support YYC. But anyway, no OpenGL or DX12, unfortunately :/
