Hi, while playing in CC 1.6.4 (This is in the tekkit modpack frpm technic platform.), I exited the window to look something up. Whe I came back the screen was complete;y back except for the wwindow (minimize, maximize, exit) Does anyone know how to fix this, or will I need to update the modpack?

this can easily be your graphics card playing up, if you used google chrome it can be a big problem for minecraft. if that is the case, use firefox. it won't take that long to get used to.

if it isn't, its most likely how well your graphics card handles memory crashes, leading into a black screen.

if you don't have google chrome and know you have a good graphics card, use ctrl+alt+delete and open task manager, and click "cpu" on the task list to make the arrow go down. that will say what is most likely a problem.

When I put my computer to sleep and wake it back up, CCEmuRedux and Minecraft, if open, sometimes are just a black screen. Resizing the window fixes this.

Its obviously some kind of problem with Java or OpenGL or something.

If resizing the window doesn't help, and it happens often, would you post your PC Specs?

Are you using a Mac? As far as I know, newer versions of OS X automatically "pause" applications that you're not using right now. This may induce the same effect HPWebcamAble mentioned when putting the computer to sleep.

I reckon Wait_ may be onto something, but I'd point the finger at the driver rather than the card itself. I've encountered much the same thing with certain Intel drivers on my laptops. Plural.

Updating my drivers sorted things out for me, but the process wasn't as straight-forward as you might imagine; Windows had been rigged by the system manufacturers to not recognise updated drivers that they didn't provide, meaning the whole process of checking for updates and getting the proper driver in place was somewhat convoluted, as the OS believed Intel's software wasn't for my system (HP/Toshiba being somewhat lax in keeping the drivers they distribute up-to-date).

I hate to think what Windows 10 is going to do to that sort of scenario. I rather suspect that the new OS would automatically attempt to revert back to the older bugged driver, were I to install it… this sort of thing has me pretty well spooked.

Just to clarify, I'm using a PC, running windows 8. I've got a Radeon 7700 graphics card.

However, what I described MAY (can't remember) have happened on my laptop (with integrated intel graphics obviously), so I always figured it was Java related, not hardware or OS.
But I suppose it could be either.
