Some people (like me) have their web browser plugin (such as flash) disabled.

It would be nice if we could embed HTML5 video's into our posts.

I believe that the HTML5 player for youtube still uses flash as a fallback, so if anyone has an incompatible browser (you should really update) they will still be able to play the videos.

Beats me if this is supported even in the latest IPBoard.

Personally I keep Flash disabled specifically so that video players don't load up. It takes me two clicks (in Firefox) to re-enable it for a specific page (as a "one time exception" deal).

I guess this is because:
  1. You have slow internet,
  2. You gave a data cap,
  3. For the purpose of having a faster internet experience.
Are there any other possible reasons.

On my side, I don't disable it since I have pretty fast internet, and am not aware of the potential danger.

It's more to do with CPU and RAM usage, and to a lesser extent, security. Nine times out of ten, if I encounter a web page with some sort of animation on it, I won't be interested in watching it - and certainly not in listening to it.

May or may not be worth mentioning that my tab count seldom falls below "dozens".

Personally I think Flash will stick around for as long as Adobe updates it - which will probably at least be until HTML5 achieves feature parity. (And even that'll be a two-step process; first the standards will have to be changed, and then browsers will have to take however long to actually start implementing them…)
