Is there a way to get the features of Computer Craft 1.76 in 1.75?

You can already write some symbols like @, % or #. But many others are not drawable.

You always can try modifying the jar, but don't distribute it, since dan won't like it.

That's easier said than done. As in, "no matter what's holding you back, you'd be better off just updating to 1.76".

Are there any serious advantages of 1.75 over 1.76 that would hold anyone back?

Most mods haven't updated to 1.8 yet which is what 1.76 targets - so if you are on 1.7.10 you are stuck with 1.75
However, many mods have, or an in the process of updating to 1.8.9, including ComputerCraft. Also see this thread for a similar discussion.
