CC Roleplay Server Idea

So we are working out the details of this server now, if you would like to be part of it, please keep reading
You will need to know how to use Git and know how CC works, MC servers work, you must know how to roleplay and be mature.

Here is the idea:

• A CC roleplay server playing in our day and age.
• The staff team is the goverment and the government / staff mostly roleplays too
• People work at a company or start one to make money
• You use in game currency to buy software, hardware, estate and services

While this sounds like a really good idea it sounds more like a dream than a reality, there are so many servers and that results in that people are spread out on the servers, which also makes the player count on each server lower.
Another problem I can see with this is the ability to maintain such a server, people are usually not active enough and are probably not always skilled enough for such a task.

There is a lot of work to do in order for such a thing to become a reality, and I don't see that anyone will actually be willing to take such time to sit down with this and do all the tedious work.

An example is the CCU servers, while it's a good idea it's really hard to maintain it and get people to join and such.
So in conclusion, you'd have to be really active and have a burning spirit for such this, if someone decides to try to create such a server I'd be glad to help out, but I'm afraid I can't be very active as there is a lot of other stuff to attend to.

I'd suggest that you lay out a more detailed plan for this, so that if anyone wants to create this can use that in order to make it work.
Something like what mods should be included, what plugins should be installed, what permissions players should have, what minecraft version it should be etc. Basically a list of what you had in mind, but try to keep the idea realistic.

And something else I strongly suggest to whoever takes a try on this is something I suggested to one who hosted a CCU server, and that is to join forces, the more people means that more works get done, which then leads to a more well managed and active server.

If this actually would happen I might even start playing some MC again.

I have hosted a decend size server before, 50 people, i have a fair amount of experience but i do need to join forces to pull off such a large project
i was also thinking, maybe if the server is large enough i could get Dan200 to add it by default, would definatly boost player count

I plan to do this, I have been planning to do it, me and Lupus were talking about his current play by post forum story, but I am not sure, I just need ideas, then I can host the server :D/>/> I have made a few plugins for like management of economy and that, just need someone to work with to come up with the ideas.

Wilcomega, if you are serious about this idea, PM me, I can host the server? As I have a dedicated server, so I can host if for us, maybe we can come up with an awesome idea?:D/>/>

Either or, I am happy to host it, work on plugins and that, I don't mind working out a detailed plan and that, I already have a server community you see, so once this server comes out, some of my players will use it as they have asked for something like this before.

I could help with custom plugins too, if that is needed.

I've got a suggestion for this, and that's to mainly focus on adding as much peripherals as possible and lots of technical mods aswell.
Here's a basic( and very short ) list of my opinions on what kind of mods should be added

• Peripherals
• Technical Mods
• Aesthetical Mods ( everyone wants a nice looking place ;P )

I don't think there should be that many magic mods, as I feel like they don't quite fit in with the theme here, but that's just my opinion.
Oh, and before I forget, as I said in a post above, if you need any help I'd be glad to help out whenever I'm free, if you want to contact me I'd suggest you send me a PM and then I'll give you my skype if you want to chat there, because that's where I'm most active.

I agree, magic mods are a bit.. far fetched..?
Send me a PM with your email, and we can invite you to slack? to join our team? as I use it for loads of things, but we have a separate private channel for this?
I don't really use skype due to having to talk, and timezones etc…? If that is cool?

Heres another suggestion: OpenComputers would fit well, as it is realistic.

Thanks for the suggestion, We will think about it. The diffrences are pretty big between the mods.

Yeah, I guess it could add a new level to like having high tech companies? Not sure…

I would like it and I would join. Also, about the companies, there would be great a stock exchange, so when you buy a company's product, the money divides between all sharers.

If you guys are planning on adding in peripheral mods and OpenComputers, then it's highly unlikely that Dan200 would add it in the default server list (reason being that nearly everyone who plays computercraft wouldn't be able to join the server without adding in the other mods), especially when the chances of doing so are slim already.

Agreed. This is very far fetched.

What happened to this? I said I want to join, and this suddenly stopped. I don't care if you want to stop, but did you make any progress? I'd like you to send me them so I can continue the project.

I still plan to do it, just waiting for a bukkit/plugin alternative comes along.
