Is there any reason why the forum doesn't use TLS? It would be nice. :D/>

If you try to put https:// in front of the URL, you're redirected to http://.

Maybe so the NSA can be part of the conversation too.


The more realistic reason is that https requires a certificate that costs money.

The Let's Encrypt CA is free and is pretty much made for small websites like these.

So that traffic is encrypted. For example passwords will not be sent in plaintext that way.

Well, generally speaking, you'd want TLS so you don't have any kind of adversary looking or modifying the pages your visit, as well as your passwords.
On the other side, there's not a lot that's critically important being transmitted to the server, other than your password, which by good practice, shouldn't be the same as your email or bank account and other important things.
Personally I would love to see TLS in here, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not going to be.

This is all very true. It's really not important here, but I was just curious, that's all.
