The forums are compatible with 3DS and other mobile devices. Is this purposeful?

I'm amazed. I'm posting this from my DS and, assuming I zoom out a bit, the forums look the exact same as I've always known them to be. I can also, very suprisingly, sign in on my mobile device, which has the worst modern internet browser. I can even post with it. So my question is… Was this all purposeful?

The forums use ipBoards which is an off-the-self forum software, one of the features is mobile compatability. As for the DS, it probably says that it is a mobile.

For Android I use dolphin browser on which I have set the user agent as PC because the mobile version sucks. It's amazing like this. Then again my device is 2560 * 1440.

I don't quite understand what you mean. But if you're talking about compatibility,PHP is a server side language,so it's compatible with all browsers. As for HTML,CSS and Javascript any decent modern browser(like your DS browser, which is based on Opera) supports those, even your 'awful' mobile browser which is probably based on WebKit(assuming it's the old default Android Browser)

Well, PHP doesn't really 'do' anything with the web browser, it's ran server-side. It really doesn't matter what browser you use, as long as it supports the HTTP(S) protocol.
