What if I want to get rid of old comments that I don't want to be there? I think everybody should have the ability to remove comments/ delete their own posts

Use the report button if you feel post removal is warranted, and a moderator will decide whether they agree with you.
Post deletion is very rarely justified. If all users were granted the power - even if only within threads they created themselves - it wouldn't end well.
