Arch Linux. Stable, up to date and closer to upstream (original repos) (instead of something like Ubuntu which patches everything),
just like how everything should be.

And AdmiOS, if you count Computercraft too :P/>

Real life: Customized OSX is beast.
Computercraft: CraftOS, I find CC OSes to be really cool and a nice hobby but generally useless (Doesn't stop me from making my own though!)

It moves across the screen. It's a fun command called 'sl', for 'steam locomotive'.

Previous OS (RL): Windows 10

Current OS (RL): Ubuntu 16.04 and it's AWESOME (im thinking to switch to arch cuz its the most customizeable…)
Why?
Cuz Windows shot the bootpartition after installing the skype APP (not the program), it was the 4th time windows broke something and I was done.

CC OS: cLinux (I literally only program it and completely blocked CraftOS lol…. going to polish it and then it will really be my main CC OS , as I even will be able to build a custom DE ontop of it lmao)

RL: Windows 10, planning to get into Linux
In-game: I previously used OneOS (dont hate me pls), but I think it would be more useful if it was IRL. I stopped using it because of the crashes.

Because with Linux, you have to use emulators if you want Windows only programs to work, but with Windows 10, I feel like I'm using a tablet AND compatibility with Windows programs are still broken. Windows 7 still works with games from the 90's while looking decent in the process, plus I already own it and have it installed.

I personally did not encounter any problems with the Wine emulator on openSUSE 43.1 Leap which I am using currently. It's almost stable. It always runs correctly my Windows applications (paint.NET [with Mono], Notepad++…). I destest Windows 10 (Anniversary Update or not), because it is not stable, Cortana always want to connect with the useless Microsoft Account, and it is not working with old applications I have currently on a old Windows XP computer.

(PS: I use CraftOS in-game :P/> )

Mine always gave me a BSOD after 5 min of uptime, no matter what I was doing.

I have Windows 10 Anniversary Update and I really like it. It is completely stable, never had an issue with it (except activation, worked in a few days) and it never failed me. I use it for playing games, coding, and other things. I really like having Windows 10 on my computer.

You know that Windows 10 (Anniversary Update) watches your personal data ?

If you created an Microsoft Account, this will happen:
<< From the moment an account is created, Microsoft begins watching. The company saves customers’ basic information—name, contact details, passwords, demographic data and credit card specifics —but it also digs a bit deeper >>

I'm pretty sure there are options to opt out of it. Also, to quote the Newsweek article:
The company’s data collection practices fit within the industry’s new normal. Google’s Privacy Terms, for instance, show that the tech giant is also analyzing the content of users’ emails to provide a better, more personalized product, it claims.
I don't agree with their policy, but sadly it is very hard to use computers without compromising your privacy somewhere. Unless you go full Stallman I guess :)/>.

For me, Windows 10 works fine. It isn't the bees knees, but it does what I need it to do and I can always use a VM when I need to use Linux.

Windows always was like playing in a casino for me.

Either the installation didn't start, it couldn't detect "drivers for my drive" or something, it couldn't detect the installation media after the installation BOOTED UP, it was stuck in a bootloop, it didn't work in UEFI mode, it gave me a BSOD every 5 mins of uptime (*cough* win10 *cough*), it didn't want to install the Hamachi drivers for example (had to boot to secured mode or something to install them, cancerous) or it one day messed up my hard drive so I had to reinstall again. Yeah win10 anniversary is the mother of all crappy unstable win versions microsoft has ever done to me.

All examples occured on various computers I had to install windows on (talking about Win7, Win8 and Win10).

Oh and I once had to install WinXP via USB on an old PC…. well…. let's not talk about it.

I used to have Arch w/ Gnome 3 or Cinnamon. I felt that it was to unstable, being a rolling release and all. Now I use Ubuntu 16.04, with Cinnamon. Unfortunately it uses more resources, but I have found nearly everything just works with Ubuntu, and there's a plethora of support.

You could also use openSUSE, because Ubuntu is kinda stable, but it is consuming so much power… Even if I switched to FLWM, it's still consuming a big amount of power. This is why I switched to openSUSE Leap.

Because UEFI blocks all installations of non-Windows OSes, and some constructors even lock the computer when you try to install it.

You can install stuff other than Windows in UEFI. The image you use just needs a UEFI key, which some small distributions don't have.

I never saw UEFI/manufacturers blocking it. Maybe on a laptop or prebuilt system. But otherwise you are in control.

I run Manjaro Linux and Windows 7 in dual-boot.

The order of the Linux distros I ran before switching to Manjaro in order

Kali Linux - First one I tried, kind of liked it
Parrot Linux - Preferred this over Kali
Arch - My HDD got messed up, didn't want to reinstall it, liked this one really much though.
Manjaro - Simple and elegant, have had no problems with it so far.

By the way, anyone know of any audio visualizer that runs in the terminal?

Lenovo blocked their users from installing anything that is not Windows 10 by using a RAID mode that requires a special driver for Windows that is not availiable on Linux. Also some lock Secure Boot, but that is very uncommon. I am running Arch on an ASUS Laptop with UEFI and runs perfectly, only had to disable Secure Boot

You know, unless they use a proprietary disk connector (instead of SATA/NVMe), you could just, you know, wipe the disk.

I know I have already posted, but things have changed since then, so here I go

I use Antergos(Linux) with Xfce and Compiz as it is blazing fast in speed(you all probably thought Ubuntu was fast). It is also quick to update as it is based off of Arch and uses the direct Arch repos(seriously, I have to update at least once a WEEK in my experience).
