Note : I chose 16.04 over 16.10(or any other Linux distro for that matter) as it is an LTS release and so will most downloaded(plus you can always back-port Unity 8 into 16.04), but the procedure should be similar, if not the same.

WARNING : Do not reboot/cold reset/ your computer halfway through installing java

They are 2 ways to set up ComputerCraft on Ubuntu 16.04

Setting up CCEmuRedux
Spoiler

Step 1: Download it(Search CCEmuRedux in the forums)
Step 2: Make sure you have Java installed(your best bet to do this is to install Minecraft by download the Ubuntu MATE Welcome Screen and downloading Minecraft through the games section)
Step 3: Mark the .jar file as executable in the permissions tab in the properties
Step 4: Run the .jar file
Step 5(optional): When the launcher is still up, right click the icon and select "Add to dash" or "Lock to launcher"

Using Forge
Spoiler

Step 1: Make sure Minecraft is installed
Step 2: Make sure you have downloaded Forge
Step 3: Mark the Forge installer as executable in the perimissions tab in the properties
Step 4: Run the Forge installer
Step 5: Go to your home folder
Step 6: Turn on hidden folders by right clicking and selecting show hidden folders
Step 7: Go to .minecraft/mods
Step 8: Download and copy the computercraft.jar file into the mods folder

Is this serious? This is literally the same for every Linux distro with java and an X server

Getting Java using this method is kind of a "hack". Just use a more dev-friendly distro like Arch and install the latest Java package. (In Ubuntu) You can even add the Aptitude repositories if Java isn't part of the standard ones.
