When I first got onto a server it was a hastle to create programs in the game. I prefer to use notepad ++. I have found a new program that enables users of the server to upload files to the server. Now This program is called HFS. This program would enable you to do many things on your server:
1) You can give each player a floppy. The floppy then has a folder. You can tell HFS to share that folder to a specific user online. (upload + download). This would enable the user of your server access to only their floppy. then they would have an easier time creating programs.
2) You can create usernames, passwords, and you can even restrict the ammount of space they can have.

I think this is a great tool for all servers. And there is no space limit (cuz its your computers hard drive) and you have a website, and it is so nice. So take a look into it!!!

If you have any question let me know.

This is a really cool idea. Normally I actually PREFER to code in game for immersion, however I find that when on anybody else's server, due to lag, it's incredibly painstaking to do so. This would be handy for my server for others. HOWEVER, I find that an entirely new server program will create stress. There are other options available, such as making an in game program to post/get from file sharing servers without causing undue cpu stress on the computer that hosts minecraft.

It isn't a new server program. it is an upload, download program. It makes it so that those folders can be accesed. It hardly uses up any of my ram or cpu. And if it does, upgrade them. And minecraft servers should be beefy anyway

If it "serves" files, it's a server. The only file serving program that I would use would be Filezilla. It's a respectable, reputable, established and functional company/program. I understand how you're trying to help and I personally would never use a home based http server for files and would choose ftp (file transfer protocol) any day of the week. I don't mean to sound rude, I mean to sound assertively denying this as an option at anytime let alone minecraft/computercraft. Filezilla may or may not have a fancy http upload section, but it's security and speed is bar none on the internet currently. http will never replace or outdo ftp.

you know what would solve this if someone created a plug-in for Notepad++ that made it type the hole document into the CC edit program. seeing as there is a windows API (used in on screen keyboards) for such things it should take a dev no time to make.

Note: I only know LUA I know no other languages.

Actually…

I'm quite confident that formatting would paste over..
EDIT:
In all honesty though, the problem has been solved with a pastebin program on the CC computers. I've been omitting that information for the sake of privacy. I won't be saying which server it's on however to prevent blatant theft. That guy already has his products pirated in game as it is.

That doesn't work as the program would need to physical mimic key strokes and it only pastes

No, it mimics key strokes. It does work. I've used it. Don't knock it before you've tried it.
