There should be an option to post a reply without notifying people
Then we could post stuff without necro'ing!

I believe you use a pre-existing framework for the forums2, but it could probably (hopefully) be easily modified, given that dan200 gets more active.

An interesting idea, but this would make moderation much more difficult–it would be easy to hide unwanted content on a very large number of old topics.

Oh, I didn't think of that…

EDIT: What if it still notified moderators/admins, just not users of a lesser status?

That would be less of an issue, though I think it's technically infeasible with the current forum software either way.
