Wireless Mining Turtle Problems

Im trying to get a Wireless Mining Turtle to excavate and area, i want to be able to activate it from inside my house using a computer with a modem but i cant get the turtle to receive anything over rednet. Do i have to turn the modem on on the turtle like you do on the computer. if so how as ive tried using the rednet,open command and nothing happens

First of all: I rarely use rednet. I just want to get that out of the way. My only answer is a simple one, did you declare the side? On turtles, the modem is always on the left. Also, you must tell it to receive, and upon receiving, it should break whatever loop you put it on, and follow the instructions you give it.
I would post the theoretical code I thought of, but I don't want to waste your time.
The REAL problem you're having is you posted this in the wrong place, it should be under "Ask a Pro." Follow that forum's guidelines, post, and you should get some better help pretty quick. You should post whatever code you're working with, that's the most important, as no one will have any idea what you're doing.
