Could turtles see inside chests in new versions?

Also this turtle does not appear to have list of "samples" to compare to (like furnace turtle have, a bit further in video), so only way for this sorting machine to work would be to compare it with chest inventory. And since they usually use cutting-edge beta unreleased versions of mods on that server, do that means that we are getting that feature?

No. It is taking an item out and comparing the item it is sorting against it.

Oh, bummer. But does that mean that it can sort only 1 item type per chest?

Yes but that means that there can be only one item per chest - it will check only first slot of the chest.

EDIT: Ah, I see he have only cobblestone in chest and rest drops off into other chest.
