dose any one know if turtles will keep going even if you are away form them? or do they need you to be with in a certan range

Turtles don't force chunks to stay loaded, so they will eventually stop functioning when you're too far away from them.

Be warned: I believe turtles that attempt to move into an unloaded chunk will disappear forever, unless that was fixed in the latest version.
