separate codes for versions into sub category
the search function does not work for just typing 1.3 or 1.4 because of length, tried [1.4] and shows bothing but I've seen that a few times so it just seems to miss it

I don't quite understand the suggestion. What do you want to be split into version codes, and for what reason? Why would you need to search for a version?

He wants to be able to search for threads within a given version only, I.e., mining programs for 1.4. "1.4 " doesn't work as a search string, so he suggest sub-forums by version.

Most of the times programs are titled with [version of cc] Search for that maybe?

Yeah, not gonna happen. Things made for older versions will work on newer versions - and things for newer versions will work on older versions if they don't use any new features.

oh, agreed, I wasn't endorsing the suggestion, just clarifying, heh. Would fragment the forum a lot for little gain.

When I started out it seemed like maybe there were some things that would no longer work. I don't really think it's true so much anymore. There are better versions of things available certainly, but they all seem to work ok.
OH! I remember why. Cuz there was a time where my public server was running 1.3 still and it drove me nuts i kept getting 1.4 programs.

What about tags? We have tags for computer and turtle, why not have tags for 1.4/1.3?

People could stop using 1.3
There is no reason to do so.. unless you're running an old Tekkit.. I hate tekkit!

Yeah, not gonna have tags for old versions. Would be pointless. May be changing forum software, and not sure if tags support anyway - so may well be moot.
