Since ComputerCraft 1.42 came out, printers were added. Unfortunately, you can't read text on a printed text and photocopy it or read it. Scanners should be added.
Some functions could be like: scanner.getText() etc

You may craft it like this:

S G S
S L S
S R S

S = Stone – G = Glass – R = Redstone – L = Redstone Lamp

The Redstone Lamp is supposed to represent the laser in a real scanner.

There may also be a photocopy program and a menu button in the "edit" program that scans a printed paper and pastes it into your text file. This could clear your file though.

Hopefully scanners get added in the next update.

Well, a redstone lamp emits light, a redstone torch emits redstone "power", the ink absors light and shows up as letters

Yes you can: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_character_recognition
It's a successful technique when using a known font.

This was already suggested, the post is even on this page. You're supposed to search first. It would be better to have all the comments on this in one post.

It is however an excellent idea and I hope to see it implemented soon.
