Hmm I quite enjoy my custom 6 ghz machine over clocked with 16gb ram.
I use windows 7 as its a fairly stable os. I will not get windows 8. Sadly windows 8 is a tablet os in my eyes. Much like iOS.

6 Ghz is very fast that must run very hot what core / cooling system are you using to achieve that speed ?

I'm sorry. Do they make processors that have this speed? Or is it insanely overclocked? I thought the fastest was about 4.2 GHz

I got a new computer as a gift,
Ubuntu
11.10 (Oneric)
Linux Kernel 3.0.0-12-generic
GNOME 3.2.0
Hardware
RAM: 2gb
CPU: Dual core Intel Pentium P6200 @2.13GhZ
Storage: Not sure, somewhere between 250 and 500 gb (Ubuntu is partitioned off)
I have not actually tried Minecraft on here, but I hope the results will be good (In my experience, not likely but eh, I can run a telnet server…)

Current specs:
Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
(I know it's pretty horrible, but surprisingly in 12w40a I get about 130 FPS stable and in 1.3.2 I get around 60 stable)

Sharing computer specifications is fun. Sometimes I like to oogle at the amazing machines that some of the more well-off users have, but I must say this to everyone viewing this thread and posting in this thread:
Your computer is your own and that's all that really matters. Don't be ashamed of the computer you have, even if you want a more powerful one. It is unfortunate to see so many posters in these threads talk badly about their own machines. Just because you can't afford to spend $5,000 on a computer does not make you any less of a gamer or enthusiast. Nor does it make your machine any less of a computer.
My cat is not a Russian Blue, that's ok. He is my cat, his name is Sanchez, and he is a badass. Learn this logic, for it is superior.

once you go with a SSD you will never go back to a normal HDD, right tiin57? its so worth the money, and a SSD will never crash on you!
my computer was around 800 bucks at the time and when i built her it was about 5 years ago maybe longer.

my SSD is only 64GB and it is partitioned to only run the OS and it is amazing. i have it hooked up through a SATA II 3Gb/s but the drive is compatible for SATA III which is 6Gb/s. i did a benchmark on my drive compared to my old HDD, and my old HDD write speed was 54MB/s through IDE. and my benchmark on my SSD through SATA II 3Gb/s was 257MB/s and SATA III was 550MB/s. my OS literally takes about 10 seconds to boot up to the login screen. everything else i install goes on my old HDD for programs. =)
HUGE IMPROVEMENT!

I think this just proves that Windows Vista is the worst gaming operating system in the history of operating systems…
Probably worst in a lot more things than gaming, actually. :3

I don't know if i can edit the poll without wiping the previous data stored in it. If you have a system above the polls range please post your specifications.
