Boxer Tournament [0.9]

Developing Team:

Hellkid98

Herû

INFO:

Spoiler

Ok so I've started programming the game Boxer Tournament

and the idea is you can play solo/multiplayer and level up,upgrade skills

buy better stuff like for example. shoes, helmet, gloves

Ok it's kinda an RPG and it's command based currently.

And it's still very much in progress.

In the future I'll create a gui version,

And Ofcourse you'll easily be able to change between GUI and command version in settings.

Please give ideas on what stuff to do

and what settings you can adjust.

There is still much work to do before I release the full game

.

And Im also looking for someone to help me with multiplayer since I'm not very good with rednet..

So if someone is interested then send me an message!

Okay. But I'm confused. What kind of game is it?

Is it command line, or GUI based? Is it an RPG, an action game, a simulator? What does it look like? How do you play it?

You sort of just told us it's a boxing game and left us in the dark with other important details. At the very least, screenshots should be provided.

How are you creating it? If you are using github or similar you can simply just add people to help. A lot of groups use this, for example the new creators of CommuteOS.

I just gotta ask.. Are someone else getting an error sometime in the gym minigame if you press the buttons too fast.
ERROR:

204
I have no idea what the error means since it's the first time I've seen it..
And sometimes I get:

java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 256

And by the way in the new version I'll release soon there will be:
Spoiler

*Ability To Save/Load/Delete
*Help Menu
*Gym
*Local Multiplayer

For me that java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException comes when i use too many functions. My first menu that had button control used alot functions. When i spammed buttons alot then that error came. So i think u use too many functions.

Would be good to add mouse click buttons in the fights instead of having to type "Punch" or "Block" all the time :)/>

In the rednet and local multiplayer it is the normally player-usernames, but in the online multiplayer that we shall add, it is both username and password.

Sure, But you should try to wait until we have released the newest version with an updater if you want to save yourself the trouble to update it manually later..
+ That the new version will contain

Online multiplayer(Not sure)
Rednet multiplayer(100%)
Local Multiplayer(100%)

And we are also adding different languages so these
languages will be included

English(Hellkid98)
Swedish(Hellkid98)
Norwegian(Herû)

We would need some translators later for

*Spanish
*French
*Deutch

And more..
But before that I'll have to cleanup the code alot so it will
be easier for you who help out to translate.

Using ccConfig could help with this… you could use it as a a language file maybe 'lang-EN' that has all the predefined strings that are translated. :)/>

EDIT: Also the screenshot links seem to be broken

We have thinken on something like that, but I will make an web-translator (GUI) for the translators, the files this translator makes will automatically be ready to download from the server (if http-api is enabled, the files will be downloaded by the game next time the update function is used, and manually download if not).

Mouse clicks:
I can't help with the drawing part but I can help with the mouse clicks:

button, x, y = os.pullEvent("mouse_click")
if button == left and x == 1 and y == 1 then --Change my parameters
--Do the action
end
That was the code for mouse click detection but in no function.

If you are still having problems with the java out of boundrys thing, here is a simple solution…

Instead of:

while true do
  --Gym Code
end
do

for i = 1, 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
  --Gym Code
end

end
You know that that error isnt created by the loop? Learn to code, seriously.
It is probably some sort of recursion.

Yeah you are right, It's because of recursion..
But I'm too lazy to fix it and I haven't worked on this program for a long time and made this when I was a total noob :/
But I'm thinking of remaking this with OOP and making it ALOT shorter
Idk but this is something at 8000+ lines :/

But anyway.. I'm going to try todo a remake of this with better GUI and functionality.
But I have to finish some other projects first
