I'm not sure if its possible for you guys, but maybe add a way to take away reputation from a post?

I don't think that this would be a valuable change to make.

Nope! Positive actions work best.

See what happened to youtube, there are always trolls to hate something and +1s are hard to get on this forum so in the end everything would probably be red.

I agree, but think about all the rude posts we see on the forums.

Negative reputation votes would most likely be horrendously abused/overused if they were added.

Yeah, I guess.

I don't even see the point of giving +1's in the first place. I'm not really an attention seeker.

Likewise, personally!

you would also be able to -1 every single post a person made in 0.5-2 months

i dont like the +1 system, if you like it then you comment (while bumping it)
if you dont then you either walk away or report it .-.
and its so easy to give someone an insanely high rep
i personally gave cruor over 10 rep points for no reason

Well, it's not very proportionate. I have almost the same rep as Cloudy here, and yet he's one of the developers of the mod. Whereas I am a lowly servant to the turtle overlords!

Maybe there should be like a 10 second buffer where you can undo a +1 incase it was a mistake?

But how often do you jump in Ask a Pro and help people with problems, compared to Cloudy. Its to be expected. Would you prefer Cloudy got one for every one a member got? ;)/> :P/>

Speaking of progress (:P/>),
how in the world did you get more than double my posts, but you joined after me, and we've both been active since joining? MIND BLOWN.

I obey my turtle overlords. They approve everything of what I can say.

If there would be so you could do -1rep then maybe alot of people Just would create an account maybe and would troll Members by doing -1rep at every post they see and Great friendly users on this Forum would have much less than they deserve..
So yeah I also think that we should keep things like they are!

IMO Rep is only good (so to speak) for 2 things:
- To stroke one's ego.
- To know that a certain amount of accounts felt like giving rep to a particular other account for whatever reason.

The first one is the most useless, because it gives false confidence, i.e. externally derived confidence as opposed to internally derived confidence, the latter of which is the only authentic/helpful one in regards to self-improvement.

The second one is mildly useful to help one get a "feel" for the character of a person before seeing more of what he/she has posted.
I say mildly because there's absolutely no guarantee that the number of reps correlates with one's own understanding of what makes a person reputable.
That can only be discovered by sifting through someone's posts and see for oneself how a particular person writes.
Reps can definitely influence the first impression one has (we're human after all).
But making oneself consciously aware of that will help to dampen, if not completely deter that possible influence.

Just my 2 cents. ^_^/>

That said, I see you have 579 Posts, Have 69 Rep and have almost been here for one year.
Meaning you're a very active. Someone that active with a > 50 Rep, that isn't banned for spamming, and has acceptable grammar.

I would say that is a first impression to think you worth listening to :)/>
Yes Rep can be corrupted, but it's normally 1 of many indications of the user without getting to know them.
