Now I know that this is 100% not a bug, its a more of an inconsistency that I have noticed.

When using a wireless turtle with a disk drive, the drive will not be used when the disk drive is on the same side as the modem.
If the you type "edit disk/someprogram" the resultant file will actually be created on the TURTLES memory under the folder disk.
However when the same thing is done on the side with the tool, or the pack on the back, it will actually go onto the disk.

I feel this is kind of inconsistent having it not be able to write to a disk only when its on the modem side, I feel it should either be the drive wont work on any side with an 'add-on' or it work on any side…

Is there a reason for the choice of blocking the side with the modem and not the others?

It's because modems are already on that side. Can't have more than one peripheral on a side.

I think what he is saying is why doesn't the pick / tool / heatsink?? count as occupying the peripheral slot for its side. witch makes sense how would it connect with something in the way unless it operates on RFI with short range or something.
If you had to wrap a tool to use it this could be already in the mod. I don't know thought having more sides available can be of use.
That leaves me undecided as to where I stand on this proposal.

Ok I followed about half of what you said then…. lol…

My main inquiry was as to why the modem is the ONLY peripheral ( in vanilla, haven't tried other peripherals ) that blocks the writing to disk as the tool, heatsink, storage all don't block, I knew they aren't peripherals in the true sense of peripherals, but they are still "in the way" just like the modem… just seems odd to me, and only realised when I was having a turtle automatically go along one of my server farms and update all the programs, and noticing that none of them had the updated program but instead the turtle had a disk directory on it…

Any peripheral will block it. If the tool isn't a peripheral, it won't block it.

I get that, but … ugh never mind … i give up trying to explain why I think its an inconsistency …

No, I understand, and there's no way the turtle could write to a disk with a pick in the way.

Ok cool :)/> … yeh I feel even though its not a peripheral its still 'in the way'…

It's just the way it is. Peripherals block, as the built in turtle peripheral is in the way. Tools don't, since they aren't a peripheral.

I do get that… My mind just logically thinks its weird that a modem will block it, but a pick, or a heatsink, or a chest on its back wont… maybe its just me………
