When you break a computer does it preserve its internal memory? Like if I place that computer again will it have the same files in its directory?
(I tried searching for this in previous posts but you can imagine how hard it is to find what you want with the keywords "break" and "computer")

This can be answered with both yes and no.
Normally when you break a computer or a turtle they do not retain their ID's or fuel level (turtle only).
However if you set a label on your computer/turtle when you break it, it will retain the programs and fuel level (turtle only).
To set a label type into the terminal on the computer/turtle.
label set <name>
