Hello CC Forums!

As we all know, the new 1.51 CC update was released, and with it a plethora of new things. Mainly cables and new redstone compatibility I find it fantastic, especially with the new channels in the past update. Now my question is: Can someone explain to me how to use them? I have hooked them up and such, they just seem to interface as usual modems, just only with ones connected. Whenever I try to wrap, it only gives me the modem methods none else, also when you right click it, it says disconnected or connected, but what does that do? Or does it not have function yet? I highly anticipate to add functionality to my security system with it. Thank you for your time!

Just for future reference, questions like this probably belong more in Ask a Pro than in the peripheral/turtle upgrades due to the fact that this forum is for released peripherals only.

As for your question, I've written a tutorial on channels/modems here. Good luck! :)/>

wired modems can be placed on peripherals as well as comptuers now.

right-click a modem to activate it as a networked peripheral; it will show the name that is assigned to this device at that time. You only have to activate the modems attached to things you want to remotely access as peripherals this way (including computers, if you want to be able to remotely wrap them and turn them on/off, etc)

from a computer on that same network, you can do peripheral.wrap(name), where name is the name shown when you activated the modem on a peripheral or other computer. You'll get a wrapper back just like if you were next to that peripheral on a side and did peripheral.wrap(side).

That's… pretty much it!

Yeah, that's where I learned about the channels
