Is the wireless range of a modem a cylinder, sphere or square?

Sphere.

Well, sort of. The range for any given computer is a sphere, but two computers can talk to each other as long as one of them is in range of the other, so a computer at sea level can still talk to a computer at skylimit despite the higher computer being out of its range.
