Labelled turtles losing their config and pickaxe.

Is this normal ?

It has happened both in single player and on an FTB server I am playing on.

I find it tends to happen quite predictably if the server crashes/stalls while a turtle is moving. Occasionally it'll happen if I pickaxe a moving turtle as well. Basically what seems to occur is that ComputerCraft loses track of the ID assigned to that turtle, and so assigns it a new one - resulting in the loss of everything "unique" about the original.

I've lost a dozen turtles over the last year this way. It's a nasty bug (especially when it's lost somewhere in the netherrack) but I think the bug has already been reported.

If you have access to the server's file system, you can edit the lastid file to the number preceding the ID of what the reset turtle's ID was. Then place the turtle down and relabel it. It should be back to normal with all its programs (minus its inventory when it was lost).

Dan200 fixed this problem in the latest CC for 1.6.4.

◾Fixed a long standing bug where turtles could lose their identity

Hopefully there's just the one bug causing that. Guess we'll see. :)/>
