I recently created a disk with programs called "on" and "off" to turn on overhead lights. But they are on the disk, so i was wondering if they is a way to do a"cd disk" command to switch automatically to disk when its inserted. Then the user can type the commands to activate the lights in console without having to change to the disk manually.

You could copy the programs to the computer, so you don't have to cd to the disk. Unless you have a background program that waits for a disk to be inserted, there's no way to do it. And even with that it would be hard to make it cd to the disk since you couldn't access the running shell, it would take some modifications to the shell in the rom.
