I play a server with lots of mods on it, and I have lots of machines in my base. I'm a complete noob with computercraft. I have many machines. Most of which I don't forget to turn off. But I like to check again before I leave the game so I dont rejoin to my house being a crater. So I have 2 questions:
1. Does anyone know if using EU splitter cables with a lever, and rednet set up to the lever would allow me to make a monitor system, showing a list of machines determining if they're on or off?
2. Can a computer can find a specific machine if the computer gets a signal from a certain rednet color?
Any help is appreciated

No. A networking cable connected to a modem on the machine would though, provided you have OpenP on this server.

wat… seriously, what?
I have to ask though, what machines are you running that apparently blow up if left running? Only thing that comes to mind would be reactors.

I have lots of buildcraft engines that I have placed everywhere for piping. Also I might eventually put a reactor in. Since question 1 doesn't work, question 2 wouldn't work either. Thanks for the quick reply.

The engines are only active when receiving a redstone signal, where does EU even factor into this lol? Anyways, provided you control the signal with your computer, this would be easy enough to do. Might also be possible to have pipe gates output redstone signals depending on wether the engine is on or not, but really there would be no point.

In ComputerCraft terms, "RedNet" generally refers to a data network between computers (which can either run over wires or wireless signals, but either way modems are involved).
Confusingly, MineFactory Reloaded offers "RedNet" cables which are very similar to RedPower's "bundled" cables. These can transmit multiple redstone signals through a single cable by assigning them different colours.
Assuming you're talking about BuildCraft's machines and engines (and hence presumably you're dealing with MJ instead of EU), there are a few ways to do what you're wanting.
One is to use BuildCraft's "gates" - these are placed into pipes, and can perform various tricks according to what's going on around them. For example, they can detect if the machine next to them is attempting to perform work, and output a redstone signal if so.
Another is to use Thermal Expansion, which basically lets you ignore all BC's rules concerning power and lets you get similar systems with next to no thought involved (making it very popular indeed). Hook up some TE engines/dynamos to some TE conduits, and lead those to your BC machines - they'll automatically provide power when needed, and halt when it's not.
