Turtle OS not showing up on new install

just did a fresh install (on 2 separate machines - OSX) if MC, using forge and computercraft 1.6.. when i start up a world using the computercraft mod i see all the computer stuff in my inventory, so thats all working. when i create a turtle and go into it, it opens up with Craft OS 1.6, instead of Turtle OS.. i can't figure out why.. i don't think i can control the turle with the non-turtle OS, correct? any ideas? yes i'm a computercraft newbie :)/>
