remotely turning on wired modem for big reactors mod?

probably a simple answer or explanation to my problem, but put simply, i have a computer connected to a reactor from the 'Big Reactors' mod via a wired modem.
the problem is that because the reactor isn't a computer i can't open the modem via 'rednet.open()'
any ideas?

You're just supposed to right click the modem, and it will be connected. You'll see a message that indicates you're connected.

thanks man, can't seem to operate the reactor using it after all :/
i've chucked the computer adjacent to the reactor, that seems to work for now
